Earlswood depot and materials bulking facility

Earlswood depot and materials bulking facility

Working with Surrey County Council and Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, SUEZ redeveloped and extended Reigate & Banstead’s municipal depot on the A23 at Earlswood to provide:

• A new materials bulking facility to receive recyclables, food waste and rubbish from households in Reigate and Banstead and neighbouring Tandridge.

• Improved depot facilities for Reigate and Banstead’s existing fleet of vehicles and their collection staff.

The new materials bulking facility

The materials bulking facility (MBF) is an enclosed building together with a small number of outside bays which are used to store garden waste and street sweepings.

Waste collection vehicles from Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge tip their loads of recyclable materials, food waste and rubbish at the facility where these are stored for a short time before being bulked into larger loads and transported off site for onward recycling, energy recovery or disposal.

No processing (or treatment) takes place at Earlswood, and the materials are moved off site quickly – usually within a couple of days.
